Three deer under oak canopy in the shade.
Approximate location since the GPS was inaccurate at that site. NNW facing slope with about 15 plants.
One of my favorite old oak trees on the preserve. Used by acorn woodpeckers and gray squirrels for storing food and shelter.
The blue oaks in this far section of the preserve are covered with drooping lichen. One of my favorite locations to visit.
The black oak is leafing out whereas the blue oak in the right background is just breaking leaf bud. This black oak is marked to be cut down by PG&E.
CA Sate Ag Commissioner verified the ID of this species. Approx. 40 plants dug up March 2012.
Leaf buds are just starting to break.
