Male and female specimens side-by-side
The first live one of these guys I've seen yet! (Found two dead)
Smallest individual of this species I've seen to date.
Two E. Chalcedona (I think) resting on same Poison Oak bush. One appeared to have a bite taken out of its wing.
A pair of caterpillars on the picture that is the primary one were across the trail from one on another plant. Not sure what sort they were but they didn't appear to be eating either of the plants they were perched on.
Some sort of butterfly, didn't look to be feeding, took off as I was watching it. The picture's a little fuzzy but it illustrates reasonably when zoomed in some of the defining features.
One a few in this section of the trail. Been there for a few weeks-ish.
This Coralroot orchid had some sort of wasp I've made a separate observation for that appeared to have pollen sacks stuck to it's back.
Small beetle-like animal. I don't know anything about insects etc. so help would be nice identifying. I never saw if fly even when provoked, but it did seem to be chasing and pursuing small ants. It's not perfectly in focus in the picture but it was a light green color with black rectangular-ish spots on its back and a black head.
Not sure what species. Found in leaf mulch.
