Description

Loggerhead shrike eating a mourning dove. I observed the shrike perched on a wire above the carcass and swoop down to pick and tug at the mourning dove. I don’t know if the shrike killed the dove or if it just took advantage of the situation.

Description

Suspected loggerhead shrike impalement (impaled by two prongs in the rear end and not the wing membrane). Found on the fence line I call Larder Lane. There were grasshoppers, beetles, spiders, skink remains, rodent remains on the same fence.
