The Jonah crab has a wide carapace width of about 150mm. The carapace and claws are purplish while the legs are light orange. Though it looks similar to the rock crab, one distinct difference is the 'teeth' on the edges of the shell. Jonah crabs' teeth are usually more rounded while the rocks' are more serrated.
