(During hike with friends)
Bird was observed at roughly 10:30 a.m. There was 6% cloud cover, temperatures were in the mid 90s, and slight amount of wind. Both birds were sitting on branch and eating their food. There were lots of oak trees and shrubs.
Observation of species:
-breast and flanks whitish with heavy dark streaking.
eyes were distinct from other woodpeckers
-red crown
