I went to African Lion Safari and spotted these ostriches. They're honestly very tall and it may be a bit difficult to tell with these photos. The one single ostrich I posted a photo of was coming and pecking at my car because I'm guessing it smelt the food. Quite amusing!

Went to the local farm a few days ago and saw this rooster. It was just pecking at things and I decided to take a photo of it. It was difficult to measure with one of my objects, so I sort of took a more distant shot so you can all see the surroundings and compare the size.

Actually saw this little beauty in NSW, Australia on my trip during the summer of 2013. I thought it was a very pretty bird and it took me forever to take a photo!
I don't know the specie, and I would love if someone told me!

Found these cute little flowers as I was walking through the forest by my home. The three of them were just sort of sticking out of the grass. Specie, unknown.
I was about to pull them out of the ground, but there were only 3 there so I quickly stopped myself.

Saw these cute, little, pink flowers coming out of the ground while I was walking along the trail of a forest. They seemed as if they were growing in between rocks. I wonder how they grew, and if they were ever planted or just randomly formed...
I don't know the exact specie, so it would be great if someone could help me figure this out.

Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum)Observer
ravensinghDescription
Here is a maple leaf I spotted when I was walking through a forest in Woodbridge. I thought it was pretty, because it's a Fall leaf, so I took a few photos of it.
A maple leaf is the Canadian symbol, so I expect it be known by everyone here.

These annoying little fuzzy balls bring back some memories... last winter I was in the forest and ran through a bush and got a bunch stuck in my hair. Ofcourse that resulted in my chopping off half my hair because they were impossible to take out! Luckily, this time I was more careful as I took photos of these small balls.
I do not know the specie of this, but I do believe it is some sort of plant.

Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)Observer

There is a small pond by my house and I saw 2 ducks in there. The water does not look too clean, so it was surprising seeing ducks in there. I have attached a photo of the pond itself along with a few photos of the ducks. The ducks look like they are different species, but both definitely from the duck family.

I was at Binder Twine and saw these spiky objects coming out of the ground, so I assumed they were plants, but I don't know the exact specie. It is about half the size of my thumb, but some of them vary in size. The colour also looked slightly faded, as if it was dying; possibly because Fall is here.

Edible or not, I'm not sure. I saw this in the hidden forest by my house. I see these berries often, but I'm not sure what type they are exactly. They are pretty small, about the size of my fingernail. There were numerous amounts of them hanging off the green trees around the forest.

European Fallow Deer (Dama dama)Observer
ravensinghDescription
I am not sure if this is a deer, but I know it is similar to one. I saw it at African Lion Safari in Hamilton during the past summer. There was a whole herd of them hanging out in an empty grass area, and there was one standing alone so I snapped a quick photo. It looked very gentle and was minding its own business.

To be completely honest, I have absolutely no clue what this is. It really just looks like dead plants to me, but I could be wrong. I saw it and it looked very interesting so I snapped great photograph with my DSLR. I was kind of just wandering through the forest in Woodbridge, ON and saw it sitting there. I did my research but was unable to find the specie.

I was getting ready to sit on a ledge at the forest, but saw this little leaf lying there and getting ready to flick it off I noticed it was a bug. It was clearly very small, as you can see I compared it to my finger nail. As I was putting my finger there to take a photo, it was moving back, so I don't believe it was any harm whatsoever. I don't know the name of this bug, but I took a guess regardless, so if anyone has an idea of what is can be, please help!

Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina)Observer

I was wandering at a forest by my house, that nobody usually visits. I found this odd looking object, kind of looking like an overgrown rasberry or a bunch of rasberries in one. I snapped a photo of the pink looking tree I found them in and I got some photos of it beside my hand, and as you can see, the size is similar. I was going to touch it, but it had slight points on it and I thought it might be poisonous so I just took a quick photo with my camera instead.

Fungi Including Lichens (Kingdom Fungi)Observer
ravensinghDescription
Believe it or not, but my mother and I discovered this fungus hidden in my backyard behind the plants, as we were working on the garden, specifically where we have tomatoes growing. I guess we let the tomatoes sit there too long, but this orange fungus (nothing like I have ever seen before) had grown. It is unusual to see fungus in my backyard, so we found it very interesting and I quickly snapped a photo of it with my DSLR.

I believe that this creature I saw was an underwater scorpion, but I can't be sure. I saw it during my trip in Sydney, Australia last summer. It was as big as my foot! I took a quick, zoomed photo of it, afraid that it would jump at me. Although, it looked as if it was just relaxed and enjoying the water.
