Description

This photo was sent to me by a serviceman in Kandahar, Afghanistan. It is one of many similar type items for sale in the bazaars over there so I cannot be sure it is even from Afghanistan since the vendors get these things from all over. About the size of a pack of cigarettes, it was identified as a "Fowling Arachnid." Any ideas?

Description

I found this strange creature in the desert outside of Kandahar, Afghanistan. They are spitball sized; their dimensions indicated by the bits and pieces of ant bodies and insect parts they have decorated themselves with. I found about ten of these things inhabiting a small, dime sized hole. I wrote a complete description with additional photos at this link:
