Ochre Sea StarObserver
sandywillowPlace
north end of farthest Oceanside beach, Oregon, north of Maxwell Mountain, south of Lost Boy Beach (Google, OSM)Description
Two victims of sea star wasting disease. An orange one lacked the sea star itself but two orange arms were attached to rocks in slightly separate locations, with white ooze dripping out of one arm. A purple one attached to a rock a little ways away was opened with white ooze festering out of its middle.
They were NOT captive nor cultivated.
I observed these during the lowest tide of the year this morning. Tomorrow's (Sunday, June 15th's) morning low tide will be nearly as low and they will be visible. But after that, possibly not till next year's low tides.
