Date

September 21, 2013

Description

Letharia vulpina has a fructicose shape (shrubby and densely branched) and a bright yellow to yellow-green color. It prefers to grow in high elevations and is often abundant on exposed branches that have lost their bark. It is somewhat toxic to mammals due to the yellow pigment (vulpinic acid).
