What
Red Maple (Acer rubrum)Observer
silvem2Description
These trees change colors in the Fall. They have wide, flat leaves with 3 lobes. Their leaves are indicative of their maple species. I tried to get a good picture of the leaves, but the ones that grow near my neighborhood are trimmed regularly.

These palm trees are everywhere near my house and all over Florida. They're native to the area and are planted frequently as decorative trees near businesses and homes. When people think of Florida, they usually think of these palm trees along the beaches. This is Florida's state tree.

What
Sand Live Oak (Quercus geminata)Observer

This plant is really common at the state park near my house. The trail I saw it on is a small loop that goes around and through the wetlands. This plant is a small shrub that has small, shiny, oval leaves and acorns.

This fern-like plant has a unique defense mechanism; it has saw-like teeth on its edges to deter being eaten.
What
Pines (Genus Pinus)Observer
silvem2Description
These trees are really commons where I live. There seem to be pine trees everywhere which would be good for Florida's hot, humid climate because they are hardy.
What
Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides)Observer

This moss covered almost all of the trees at this state park. It hung off the branches like a spooky decoration.
What
Baldcypress (Taxodium distichum)Observer

These trees in this state park were all very old, some over 100 years, and they were still growing strong. The provide habitat for many of the swamp's birds and protection for turtles.
