Large mushroom 25cm diameter cap, stipe was also around 25cm long and 6cm wide. About a dozen pins were deep underground attached to the stipe.
My best guess is Neolentinus ponderosus

Amanita calyptroderma or vernicoccora? Older specimen for sure. Cap was about 18cm across, stipe was 22cm, volva and base broke off when I was digging it out. Didn't have my camera with me as I was out running, but had to at least bring it back to check it out.
