Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer)Observer

Conditions were clear (20C, 84% humidity). Spring peeper was identified by its call when heard from the trail, but not actually seen. It was likely 20-30 ft from the trail in woody forest by rough estimation when heard.

Conditions were clear (20C, 70% humidity). Toad was found at Turkey Creek trailhead near picnic area and a wooden house structure. Toad was actively hopping before it was caught and photographed.

Green Frog (Lithobates clamitans)Observer

Conditions were clear (22C, 57% humidity). Frog was found sitting in the crook of two fallen branches about a foot above the ground, near a stagnant pool. Pool was located in a nearly-dry cypress swamp along the Turkey Creek trail. Frog was not moving when captured and was noticeably cold to the touch.

Northern Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus)Observer

Conditions were clear (24C, 45% humidity). Cottonmouth was resting in cypress creek bed and shook its tail and opened its mouth when accidentally approached. Fled when snake stick was offered. Creek bed was mostly dry at the surface with mud underneath; fallen leaves covered much of the ground.

Conditions were clear (27C, 34% humidity). Several found in the cypress creek area. Soil was fairly moist with standing water nearby.

Conditions were clear (22C, 57% humidity). Toad was collected from pitfall trap dug into the sandy bank of Village Creek, off of the Turkey Creek trail. Bank was partially covered in leaf litter with a large fallen tree and abundant low-growing foliage nearby.
