So sorry for the terrible quality but this was a mallard-looking bird hanging out with the other ducks. This one was in a pack of three, very slim bill, continuously diving down to the bottom of the Petaluma River for food.

I cannot identify the species of this tree. Every year around the middle of summer, it bears large, spherical buds that drop from the tree all over our driveway. The outside is soft and there is a large, hard nut inside.
