What

Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)

Observer

xenoscientific

Date

September 18, 2017 03:58 PM PDT

Description

This was late afternoon. I have heard owl hooting in this part of the woods at this time on other days, but not today. Wouldn't have even known he was there except that he moved to a new branch and then I saw something out of the corner of my eye. When I inched closer I would momentarily loose him again even though he didn't move. Didn't have my long telephoto with me, so this was shot with a 100mm equivalent and cropped to effect a 4x magnification.
