Looks like a large Aphid type bug, about 1cm long.
Found on rock with quite a few others under willow trees along Ruamahunga River on fine day. Wouldn't stop moving to take a proper close up with my phone. I think they're whats leaving drops all over my windscreen, thought it was cicada's but were none of them around.

Nothern Point of White Rock beach, Southern Wairarapa. Fledglings present, being fed by parents. None breeding.
Many Red Billed Gulls killed by predators, probably cats and ferrets. Counted the remains of at least 15 individuals. In urgent need of protection and predator control.
