Description

This type of mushroom was growing in huge clusters between the trunks of Big Leaf Maples, growing in the darker crevices that the two trunks had formed. They seem to start off as tan colored mushrooms and as they dry or die out, the cap flares out and or the mushroom turns black, which I have noticed from the others in the cluster. The Big Leaf Maple that had these mushrooms was found in in a little higher elevation across from a stream.
