According to a friend who specialises in mantids (Alan Stubbs) this might be Galepsus genus.

Info from him on this family:

"If you look at the middle leg you can see fine hairs. These mantids lie flat against twigs and the hairs break up the outline of the body. Fantastic addition to their already impressive camouflage.
This group tends to be quite small but stocky. They look like they're very slow but shift like greased lightning. They will also scuttle behind twigs and peer around the side, much like woodpeckers do. It's desperately hard to find these things in the wild."
