I believe this is one of or the only native Hawaiian damselfly that I saw during my trip. In a freshwater/brackish pond that was flowing into ocean. I was fortunate to spot it. I saw it perched on a stick in the water from a hard artificial pond edge, and when it was disturbed and flew, it disappeared into a vegetated bank of the pond and I never saw it or any others again.
Lots of sea turtles hauled out on the black sands. I wasn't really aware that sea turtles hauled out before. Apparently this happens rarely outside of Hawaii possibly because there's so much harvesting for turtle meat elsewhere in the world.
