According to guide, some of these are resident populations, adn others migrate in during the winter.
The individuals we saw tended to have much less black on the head than what I'm used to seeing in the pacific Northwest (Oregon & Washington)
Perched in top of mangroves in midst of lagoon.
size about equivalent to an Osprey.
No visible band of white higher on tail, only thing we could see was the white tip.
Didn't appear to have gray lores.
We only had this one view and the bird didn't move except to swivel its head while we were observing.
saw a couple 5-6' sunning on flats & in shallows in saltwater lagoon.
