Quite common at this location. ID on Bugguide by David Ferguson:
young Great Horned Owls in a cottonwood tree.
On rock wall in Santa Elena Canyon.
One of at least four dove species in the groves (including Mourning, White-winged, and Inca).
Abundant in most areas of Big Bend, especially in the lowlands where various native and introduced mustard plants were growing.
Many groups of these larvae were feeding on Cowpen Daisy (a.k.a. Golden Crownbeard; Verbesina encelioides) at Cottonwood Campground.
