Description

The only reason I saw this frog hanging out low in the water --deep in the Tiger Bay State Forest of Volusia county, Florida-- was because of his rapid-fire grunt-grunt-grunt-grunt-grunt call -- a sound I identify with that of the pig frog. He had been making quite a racket until I approached to try to get a shot and finally spotted him.

To arbitrarily pull out a percentile, I'm about 80% sure this was a pig frog; however, I didn't get a clearer view of the frog's full body. It's possible that I'd heard another frog making that tell-tale call in the immediate vicinity (I never saw it call directly), but it did seem to come from this specific frog. The less-than-awesome image has been significantly cropped and sharpened.

Two six-spotted fishing spiders fishing a (tiny) body of water in Tiger Bay State Forest. Much of the forest was bone dry at this time. This was one of the few remaining spots of standing water in this area.
