Baird's Sparrow is a rare winter visitor and migrant in Texas. In late April and early May, 1998, up to three Baird's Sparrows sent about a week in some grassy areas at Rio Grande Village in Big Bend. This was the 30th Texas record of the species. I have posted three shots showing a side view, a view of the unique head pattern seen from the rear as well as the orange crown patch.
