Abandoned baby at my work's parking lot, seen very early in the morning
I've seen these guys fairly often on the mesa. Never up close, though I've seen some remarkable photos of them on flickr.
At Bolsa Chica
A small number of green sea turtles regularly visit the San Gabriel estuary. Apparently, they are attracted by the warm effluent from a power plant.
Adult, flying. There were many more, juveniles and adults, on the beach.
Approx. 10 cm total length, with a regrown tail. It was sunning on a pile of wood, rather defiantly.
Approximately 30 cm total length, tail easily twice the body length, with transverse bands of dark brown, olive, and light gray scales across dorsum, fading near tip of tail. It was sunning on a wood pile when I disturbed it. It's movement was sinusoidal and snake-like.
