There is a post-rain pond along the trail from ferndell to the observatory road. I heard calls coming from the pond, and upon closer look I saw several dozen toads. Many of them seemed to be mating! I'm uploading pics, but I also have some video if you'd like to have that as well.
Western Redbud planted along with Fremont cottonwoods, ash and Western sycamores.
After a few days of rain a large puddle formed(that I think could be called a vernal pool). Visitors have appeared - a coot and a pair of mallard ducks.
