My first-ever close-up observations of Marine Blue butterflies (Leptotes marina). They're beautiful. This observation was part of the ButterflySCAN project of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum. I have photos of several different examples. One shows a lot of damage to the back edge of the hindwings.
This is the first time I've seen a butterfly in the Bougainvillea in this area. This observation was part of my regular outing for the ButterflySCAN project of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum.
This beautiful Gulf Fritillary was difficult to see at first because it was hidden in the bright red leaves of the Bougainvillea bush.
During a windy day I found this pill bug under some plants inside the dirt. It's very dark and from close it has so many little feet.
I saw this butterfly during a windy day. From a close view it's clear it has hairy fur,brown eyes and it's body is is fully brown.
Snail on the wall. Cold weather.
