"I took this picture on 11/16 at about 7:30 a.m. It was in the middle of a very windy 36 hour period, as you may remember -- i think the wind direction was from the north-northwest. The sky was clear and sunny. Temperature in mid-50's F.
"I've lived there more than 17 years and do not remember ever seeing a mantis anywhere in my neighborhood, let alone in/on my house or yard, before.
"I didn't get a chance to measure it, but would guess it was 4 1/2 inches in length, not counting the antennae."

Joe saw a juvenile Southern Alligator Lizard under the plywood board provided by the NHM. The time of this sighting was between 10:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. The lizard was about seven inches long. I (Joe) took a photo that I uploaded to Picasa.
At Franklin canyon reservoir. Beverly Hills.
Aprille saw four Eastern Fox Squirrels between 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Sunny day. One on Rosemary bush, the other (small one) on cement.
Medium size orb weaver building a large web in the back yard.
medium size reddish brown slug on bottom of a rock, close contact with small white arthropods. 10 inches or so away from another slug, not sure if it same species or not, added as separate observation.
Very small white multi leg arthropod. Crawling around slugs on the bottom of a rock. Not sure if they are millipedes or not.

Large dark bumblebee, loud buzzing, somewhat adorable. Sorry my pictures kind of stink.
