Found two fur clumps in San Diego area.
Anyone have any ideas on what kind of fur this might be?
I think this might be an Eriogonum but not sure about the species
About 5' to 6' tall, leaves opposite 1" to 2" long and serrated margin.
About 4' tall, with grey green leaves found at base of plant, flowers were dried out and brown.
Elevation 6,743 ft. "Red ear" visible in the field with binoculars.
Elevation 6,776 ft.
This isn't a zoom shot; he let me get touching close.
I managed to forget about the nutlets yet again, so I suppose we'll never know what it is.
Carrying a tiny bit of bark.
A handsome one.
