3hours in; a 1/2 a mile as the bird flys north east of trail's "end"... whose this nevin guy and what he do all the barberrys?
Couldn't really take a good picture because of the poor lighting.
large leaves in the foreground are yerba santa. you can see the bugler leaves under the flowers on the right
Not easily seen in this photo but he has the white dorsal stripe.
Had a hard time identifying this one, but I think it is a California Toad (Anaxylus Boreas Halophilus). It had red-orange parotoid glands.
Visits daily, sometimes 12-15 at a time. Seems to be thinning out as the summer ends.
5-7 woodpeckers on various trees, mostly Southern California Oak
