This bird was obviously acclimated to people as it allowed me to approach to within 2 m.

Purple Aster
I noticed these asters on several walks around the North Rim during our September trip. I did not see them very much when I was in the same areas in July of last year. I think they occur after the Grand Canyon "monsoon" season (mid-July through mid-September)
