Spotted this little guy just before low tide on the last day of king tides.
Over 200 seals in a group stationary in the water resting and getting sun. Others swimming around the shore.
Diving for bugs over the beach sand.
Apologies for the lousy photo. Plain grey back and yellow legs. Eyestripe. Beak had a darker tip. In company with sandpipers on rocks above water's edge.

I spotted three on the water off Weston Beach on 12/28/14. Two came in and spent a couple of days in the cove at Weston Beach
This bird was spotted with some Greater White-fronted, Cackling, and Canada Geese.
This was the second Varied Thrush I spotted in the Reserve. It was several weeks after they had been showing up in numbers in Monterey and Carmel Highlands.
Spotted in Whalers Cove near the parking lot. It stayed in the cove for about 15 minutes before flying out to Carmel Bay.
Large one, about 1.5" across.
Perhaps juvenile Cancer productus? About 1.5" across.
