'Canyon Snow' is a white form of Iris douglasiana that was selected by Dara Emery of Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. It is admired for the good substance of its flowers and for foliage that looks good year-round.
There are a few naturalized stands of Western Dogwood along the San Lorenzo River between Boulder Creek and Felton. I grew this one from seed sown in September 2002. It is now about 12 feet tall, and blooming for the third year. Some of them, including this one, can bloom a second time in the fall.
