Quite flighty, and closing very soon after it would settle on something. Small, a tad larger than an Acmon Blue.Kept patrolling the same bit of trail, below a low ridge, but above a farm road .

I think this might be a young bird. It is, without doubt, a disheveled bird!

Very distant picture, but the fully red-gorgeted head is impressive!
Rather haphazard web, but strategically placed
Picture (darn auto-focus) probably useless, but this was an interesting bug to me. I did not see portholes that would have indicated Variegated. It perched on the fence holding its abdomen up vertically in relation to its thorax and head. When I tried to get in to photograph, it hovered right in front of my face before flying off!
