This is the common goldenrod on coastal bluffs in much of the SF Bay area . Eriogonum latifolium in the foreground . Coyote Brush in the background .
Found in coastal bluff .
I previously posted this colony back in July .
Feeding on bee or wasp.
Small flock picking at shore rocks and on beach.
With Pelagic Cormorants on the right side of the rock in the photo.
On edge of bluff slope . Male and female are on separate plants . I could not reach the rest of the plants .
By-the-wind Sailor (Velella velella), Bean Hollow State Beach, San Mateo County, California - 13 August 2014. Hundreds of these organisms had washed up on the beach here.
Found on a coastal bluff .
This is either R.salicifolius or R.transitorius .
Is this now lumped with G.hirsutula ?
Note that the leaves are extremely soft . This is a sandy coastal bluff .
On a sandy bluff .
A dwarf form .
Note the adjacent ones had perfoliate leaves .
Only seen at one site .
