Mill Ox Trail, Butano SP
Great-blue, I suspect, but can't rule out Great Egret...
Irregular one on right, white spots on lower surface, grayish brown upper surface
on Big Leaf Maple trunk
Or is this more tree pelt lichen....
Grayish brown upper surface, curled up margins - some with soredia on margins, light lower surface with large white rhizines and cyphellae (?) on trunk of Big Leaf Maple
"The only pelt lichen with soredia" from Macrolichens class....
Bluish white with dark cilia, on fallen twig
Pale green upper surface, white on back, "flaps" of soredia on ends of strands, K-, KC-, C-, 2-3 cm wide
First time seeing this
On small fallen twig, near creek and bridge, crustose with pale orange apothecia
Large leaf, boggy wet area near Little Butano Creek
Bright orange belly, in wet boggy under the redwoods near Little Butano Creek
Whitish interior of tube, on fallen branch, black lower surface with brown tips, a few apothecia , K+ yellow, KC+ red/orange, C-
Next to creek
Passed pull trest, on fallen tree in redwood grove
Pale green with apothecia with brown centers. Dark back surface, black interior of tube, K+ yellow/mint green, KC+ red..
Per kueda: "According to CNALH, H. heterophylla should be dark on the inside. Most of our Hypogymnia are H. imshaugii, which is white on the inside"
so is this H. heterophylla (seaside bone lichen)? But Scharnoff book says cortex spot tests should be K+ yellow (OK) and KC- (but I got red)
Female - horrible photo!
