UPDATE 5/21/2015: Added a second photo of the whale carcass being towed out to sea. Long rope! And a bunch of gulls riding on top (visible with scope, not so much in this photo!).
"The beach of death" Over the past week, I have seen dead Guadalupe Fur Seal, Harbor Seal, California Sea Lion, and now this Gray Whale, all on this same beach.
Great sighting of a lost male. Singing away!
Tail approximately the same length as the body. Tail is distinctly bicolored. No noticeable contrast in the color of the fur between the back and the belly. These characteristics distinguish it from the two other Sorex shrews in this range.
