White lined sphinx, a hawkmoth
In grass verge between Flood Slough and road. We (Chris, Malia and me) disturbed it and it moved off into the grass. Quite a large snake - closer to 2' long than to 1'. Linear band along side.
Malia helped to ID it; I don't know enough to say if it was a specific ssp.
There are red-wings in the group shot as well.
Large flock close to street
Introduced, but not captive. Has lived in the lagoon for several years. And it is a beautiful bird.
These plants were on a mass of exposed rocks in this lagoon area. They seemed dry and brittle, as if they'd been stranded above the water line for a long time
