Did I possible get the coast one here?
This one was decapitated. The raven found lunch...
Looks like an immature
Looks like a baby yellow jacket
Caterpillars starting to appear on willows
I'd seen one prior on Mount Diablo. This one landed for a second. Lucky shot
Most abundant species today on the coast
Parking in a No Parking Zone at the 7-11
I have discovered the secret to seeing the animals I love the most: leave my camera at home! As with last month's Mountain Lion, I finally saw a Mourning Cloak in the county, while leading the SAS Volunteer Appreciation Hike. It moved very quickly; I'm not sure I would have had time to photograph it even if I'd had the camera. Looking forward to adding a Mourning Cloak with a photo at a later time.
Caterpillar stage known as "Banded Wooly Bear"
