Normally these are flying low along the lawns feeding but today they were all perched and chattering
These go after the bird seed folks put out on the ground
The caterpillar my camper found in this observation (http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/809991).
I took it home and it pupated. Emerged today. Definitely looks like a Smerinthus, probably S. cerisyi. What do you think?
Will get some better pics of its spread wings once it rests more.
Body approx. 1.5cm. Produced extremely sticky strands.
