found dead off side of trail. small gray fox kit. reported last night, not very stiff, though inverts had already infested it. Still had milking teeth. No obvious signs of trauma (e.g. rips, tears, etc.). Note the discoloration of the neck area... that plus the location (near this years coyote den) makes me think this was perhaps a coyote casualty.
not a personal picture. low quality but you can see a pair of gray foxes. Breeding? (see my other recent gray fox observation).
Sudden oak death symptoms
Large green inchworm with red stripes, feeding on similarly colored Clarkia rubicunda. Possibly Geometridae family moth?
Hairstreak butterfly larvae: but what kind?
