Description

Green Sharp Shooter (Draeculacephala minerva) was from a population Rodrigo Almeida at UC Berkeley maintained and the original population came from from insects that were wild-caught in and around Berkeley, CA. The sharp shooter was dissected to remove the bacteriome and then I gently smashed the bacteriome on a slide to release the symbionts. Single bacterial cells were captured with a micromanipulator on an inverted scope. Sulcia cells were amplified and we recovered a full genome back form a single bacterial cell.
