Couldn't see any black dots in the "underarms." Doesn't look like Mantis religiosa.
These were all over the place tonight. Several were on the ground with their rear ends in the dirt. Ovipositing, I'm guessing?
Sorry for the poor picture. This was a big one, wingspan was around 2", I think.
