This is the first Marbled Salamander I've seen in the field and was a very exciting find. Found under a log at the side of the trail.
The shoreline of several ponds at Maple Flat were teeming with Cricket Frogs in a wide range of color and markings.
Resting on the side of the Blue Ridge Parkway, watching the cars go by in the evening light. Eventually it ran off into the woods, and it was at that point, we saw that it was not alone. What appeared to be a smaller bear raced down the hill with it.
