First time to ID, but I think it's this one. Gorgeous!
Great Blue Heron walking through an open grassy area. Stopped to clean feathers a few times.
Fuzzy black and brown caterpillar. Sunny, cool day (approx 60 degrees). Found crossing the trail headed towards dense shrubby vegetation, heavy with poison oak.
I was told the bird had been standing there for nearly an hour before taking off.
Many of these were scattered throughout the area, most closer towards the ocean.
Heron hunting in a grassy field next to Abbott's Lagoon
Caterpillar found along path by Abbott's lagoon, munching on grass.
Herd of about 15 female elk in the Tule Elk Preserve
This was a treat; extra special thanks to the two nice women who Ms. Killdeer and I ran into on the trail who told us to scan the reeds for a bittern. We all stood there and chatted and marveled at this strange and beautiful bird. Good times. Hashtag birdnerds.
