When I first drove past, the bird appeared to be dead, neck lying on the ground. I stopped to take the body off the road and prevent scavengers from also getting hit and as I approached realized it was still alive. I removed it to the side of the road and was debating what to do when an area resident stopped with a towel to wrap the loon in and said she would take the bird to the local rehab center.
