Hanging out in my friend's garden, which is next to open space. She's had King and Gopher snakes for years.
Northern River Otter climbed up on dock
Not sure if this is the same one I saw a few months ago living in my patio moat, if it is it has gotten a lot bigger! I'm hoping it doesn't eat the beautiful, tiny, Ring-necked Snake I found nearby today.
I lifted up the doormat on my patio, to check on the Arboreal Salamander that lives under a grate, in a moat, and found a beautiful little Ring-neck curled up under the mat! This was at 6 PM, PST. Very exciting and beautiful animal!

Well, it has rhizines, but it seems way more orange than the ones we saw on buckeye later in the day. I believe this was on an oak twig.
Sorrediate margins, black underside with brown margins. Growing on a mossy rock, which is apparently not right for this species, but I can't find a better match.
