Description

Is around 1 to 2 ft tall. Light yellow color. Has a fuzzy bulb on the top of the grass. Was found surrounding a fig tree. More that 100 pieces of grass in the area.

Description

Was found covered on a branch. More than four of the fungus on the branch. About 1 inch wide. Is a light brown color with other sades of brown around it.

Description

This low growing lotus was seen in a weedy patch behind the south bleachers of the main athletic stadium. Note that most of the foliage in the lead image is from intermixed trifolium; a better shot of the lotus leaves is seen isolated in image 2.

This is a hybrid oak with Q. kelloggii and Q. agrifolia parentage. Note that the architecture and bark more resemble Q. kelloggii, while leaves are closer to Q. agrifolia, although the leaves carry the larger size and longer spiny lobes of the Q. kelloggii.

This gold coloured crustose lichen was seen at a major lookout point at the Mead Ranch. The substrate rock designates one of the highest elevation points of the ranch, from which one can see Mt Diablo and Mt Tam.
