California gall wasp observations on stems of a small Quercus lobata near Bluebird Trail. The galls were approximately four cm in diameter, and the Q lobata host was about three meters in height. The young tree was almost certainly one planted in the Laguna de Santa Rosa floodplain restoration program.
Found on road DOA! Someone stopped and cut off it's tail?
My camera is out of commission for the moment so I will describe it. I see this shrub in slightly upland from riparian zones, along with the oaks. The one on the side of the road on Piezzi is about 15 feet tall. It has small ovate shaped leaves with smooth margins, the underside is silvery and fuzzier than the top. It has persistent red berries.

Whenever I see fennel growing I always inspect to check out the lady bugs
I think this is Mule Fat but it might just be some sort of cudweed. The leaves remind me of a willow for sure. A beautiful green fly really enjoys the flower buds
I picked some grapes this morning and two ladybug beetles crawled out of the bag.

these plants are enjoying the moisture from the bank of a little stream. They have white flowers.
