This erect manzanita is extensively branched and exhibits a total plant height of about 130 cm. The leaves are pointed and elongated, with petiole lengths of about four mm. The overall drupe size is considerable.
Several of this uncommon manzanita were seen on the south slope of Rincon Ridge. The lateral spreading nature of this taxon yields a height of about 55 cm and a breadth of somewhat over one meter. Another diagnostic of the subspecies is the smooth, shiny leaves borne on leaf petioles of about five mm.
Seen on the western property perimeter atop leaf litter of Black oak and other tree species.
This large multifurcate woody shrub was seen on a steep bank above the golf course. Height of this specimen is about four meters, and the architecture features long arching woody stems from a central base.
