Along Lake Laura path
Growing along Lake Laura trail near Basye, VA.
Blooming in several areas of my property. Coming up through the oak leaf duff.
Female + male
Caterpillar in disguise -- carrying lots of camouflage.
Invasive, eating away.
Lots of pale eastern newts in aquatic stage. In center of lake, they were surfacing quickly for air. On lake edge, many just resting near surface. Must not be tasty to fish?
I grabbed this one quickly for a photograph before returning it. It was "chubby" and awkward on land in this stage.
