possibly. I saw another one at the same spot (and posted it) a few days ago that had more upper wing markings so am not sure.
I hear this is not native to Ohio but an escape. This one is doing very well in this little pond.

Goldenseal I think. Want to be sure of the ID - really excited to find this. I've never seen this. On a wooded slope in very moist woods going down to a valley. Very cool, damp spring so far this year like all others in the midwest.

I'm trying to ID this but having trouble. My first thought was Oak Fern but the stems are alternate. I really don't know a lot about ferns but would like to learn more. This fern is not doing well due to the drought and extreme temps.
Sunny field, not wetlands, plant is 1 to 1/2 ft tall.
