I am just now posting this sighting from a year and a half ago because until someone just pointed out that it was a Map Turtle, I had just assumed it was a Painted Turtle. This would make my first and so far only observation of a wild Map Turtle so I'm very happy someone noticed this error I made on Flickr. This observation was made during the crest level of a flooded Susquehanna River.
My second five-lined skink sighting. And both this year. The other sighting was ironically DIRECTLY across the river at about the same elevation. That one ran up my leg but this one ran up a tree instead. I was very happy to get a real good photo of one in the wild finally! It's hard to take a photo of one when its trying to climb your leg.
I had no idea what this was, my first time seeing one. Luckily I didn't touch it, after reading up on it at home I realized it was very toxic! Yay me for not grabbing the animal!
Spicebush Swallowtail?
I had some cool shots of him catching minnows but I forgot to adjust the settings and they were blurry :(
There were a pair of these hawks hanging out together near this baseball field. I almost immediately thought I was seeing my very first Red Shouldered Hawks. I can't be 100% certain though. Can someone help me identify these? I know the photos aren't great but when I got any closer they flew away.
I'm looking to identify the lower Salamander in these photos. The top one is a Two-Lined Salamander but I'd like to identify the lower one. I thought maybe it was a Seal Salamander but not sure.
